NewStore conducted first-hand research within 45 well-known high-end retailers' brick-and-mortar stores in New York City and Boston, and interviewed 45 associates between the ages of 18 and 34.
Posing as shoppers, they engaged in one-on-one discussions to understand the relationship these sales associates have with mobile technology.
The current Store Associate workforce is more technologically savvy than ever before. While any customer with a smart phone can access a store’s website in-store, only half of the Store Associates we met had access to their own store’s website while in-store.
Ultimately, sales associates are under utilized assets in the store when not allowed to use mobile whether their own or the store’s.
