From @SchambachSays recent LinkedIn post, we bring you "Thoughts on Technology During Fashion Week."
With a strong presence at Fashion Week in cities around the world, technology asserted its dominance in fashion and retail. Major retailers incorporated shoppable runways.
During #NYFW, Finish Line allowed attendees to purchase items from Reebok in real-time via mobile devices, while users at home who live streamed the show were given access to the same features. Finish Line also took advantage of social media by offering behind-the-scenes looks on Snapchat and Instagram.
One thing is certain: major brands are recognizing the need to transition to mobile to engage customers. Brands are honing in on constant connectivity and the convenience of on-demand purchases, allowing consumers to keep up with what is current in real-time and putting the consumer at the center of the brand. The rise of shoppable runways and buy now looks opens the door for retailers to not only interact with consumers, but offer better fulfillment options with the ability to shop for what they want as soon as they see it with just one touch.
